The Giles Family Makes $10,000 Donation to the Sigma Nu House Corporation of Memphis
Memphis, TN – Jill and Bill Giles, the parents of Chris Giles ’16, have donated $10,000 to the Sigma Nu House Corporation of Memphis. The Sigma Nu House Corporation of Memphis has established a sound business model for the corporation, with the Active Chapter paying a parlor fee to the House Corporation each semester to fund long-term property maintenance, and the Giles Family donation will go directly to capital improvements, including house repairs and renovations.
Jill and Bill Giles met with House Corporation leaders to tour the House earlier this year and indicated a commitment to help fund House repairs so their son and other Active Chapter brothers have a nice place to study and socialize. Jill Giles said, “We think the Epsilon Sigma Chapter is an outstanding group and membership in Sigma Nu has had a very positive impact on our son’s college experience. We are pleased that alumni are working to renovate the house and are happy to support this effort with our donation.”
The Epsilon Sigma Chapter, following the Pursuit of Excellence Program established by Sigma Nu Headquarters, has developed a strong Values-Based Recruitment program and excels at every possible level. Jim Durham ’67, President of the Sigma Nu House Corporation of Memphis, said, “We are sincerely grateful the Giles Family has made such a large donation to support the work of the House Corporation. Our goal is to provide a Quality House for a Quality Chapter, and we believe their donation will help us make significant progress toward this goal.”
The House Corporation is currently working with the Active Chapter to finalize a House Improvement Plan. Derek Pegram, Worthy Commander of the Alumni Chapter, said, “It is truly fitting that in its 80th anniversary year, we see the Sigma Nu House Corporation of Memphis once again working with the Active Chapter to maintain the Chapter House.”
